WALTA “Fade Into The Background” REVIEW

The new Indie-pop artist from Australia, WALTA, pulled at heart strings with her recent self discovery anthem ‘My Own Voice’ which gained Spotify editorial play-listing, rotation on Triple J Unearthed and was highly praised by radio presenters, describing the track as well-crafted, relatable and magical.

Continuing to pave her way in the industry, the 20 year old is giving us the follow up single ‘Fade Into The Background’, a bittersweet honesty into the feeling of being overlooked and the desperation for recognition.

WALTA words about the song: “Writing this song was the first time i felt i made something that perfectly portrayed how i was feeling. No character or humour to hide behind, just straight story telling from the part of me that feels overlooked and hopelessly seeking recognition and praise.

It makes me cry when I listen to it because I feel seen. It's me just singing to me, and being there for me, when I feel no one else is. I lean on it in times I feel alone and it’s like I have a friend who understands me. If you have ever found yourself questioning your purpose in life and constantly feeling overlooked, this song is the warm hug, the hand to hold and the soft pillow ready to catch your tears when you need it most.

I co wrote it with long time collaborator melrose who really understands the art of song writing. I remember the day we wrote it and the warmth I felt in the room. I finally had a song that said exactly what i wanted it to say”.

Doing whatever it takes to feel wanted, even if it means re writing the narrative over and over again, It's the desire to be seen and not ignored.

The production and ambiance of the song feels like a wave of emotion. A feeling of warmth that has you look inwards for answers. I often find myself listening to it on repeat in the car and just getting lost in thought. I almost don’t want the song to end and be forced back to reality. I want to stay in the safe space of my thoughts a little longer, the place where I feel most seen, says WALTA.

This single will be apart of a bigger collection of work set for release mid this year, and was co written and produced by long time collaborator melrose.
