Sistir “bridge” REVIEW

After working with producer Cormac Butler (previously produced tracks by James Vincent McMorrow and Rudimental) SISTIR is back bigger and dreamier than ever!

Hailing from the heartlands of the Irish Republic, SISTIR's Aisling McCarthy has long established herself as an accomplished musician and singer, touring with White Chalk across Ireland, the UK, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Now breaking free and flying solo, SISTIR seeks to carve out some elbow room at the table of celestial soundscapes, chilling 80's synth and haunting harmony. Singular, McCarthy deals heavy hands in femininity, trauma, sexuality and living in emotional urgency.

“Bridge” deals with the idea of meeting someone halfway and what can potentially happen when you give too much of yourself to someone.

The bones of ‘bridge’ were written when she was living in Dublin. She was in a relationship that she was finding very difficult to be in, but the potential she saw in it, kept her trying. She sing about meeting her love under palm trees which was very much a dreamy vision of her. She envisioned herself moving away to a tropical place and living more harmoniously with the partner. It's been almost 4 years since she wrote 'bridge' and now she has found herself living under palm trees, focusing on music composition...with a loving partner. This somehow makes the timing of the release feel perfect.

For fans of Maribou state, Lykke Li, Florence and the machine, Enya, Two People and Men I Trust, McCarthy's unique ear for melody and tumbling rhythms invite the listener to shatter, to heal, and repeat.
