Draumr “In A Daze” REVIEW

Draumr the solo project of the french musician and producer Gabriel Cherufa, stands out in a career filled with numerous collaborations across musical genres. His sound has a very distinct quality of ethereal dream pop and glo-fi.

Meaning “dream” in ancient Norse, Draumr is born of the dialogue between imagination and reality, and deals with the sensitivity of those whose affinities lie beyond society’s addiction to sensationalism, far from the deafening battle for our attention, whose lively flame too often silently die out under the weight of an inhumane reality, these dreamers who seem today increasingly rare.

His debut album “Drawn-Out Daydream”, takes us on an unusual, intimate and authentic journey. It invites us in its composite universe, tinged with glo-fi, downtempo and dream pop, grounding us in the present creating a delicate and dreamlike state. Through its soft synthetic layers, its ethereal choirs and its warm rhythms, the artist rouses our spirits and suspends time. He lets us fill our lungs with air that is a little bit cleaner, and frees us, for a moment, from the weight of modernity.

On his forthcoming album, Draumr takes us on a voyage that emanates the warmth and stillness of an evanescent carefree-summer. The pursuit for restful sleep is led by an ambition more certain than ever. This sonic landscape pictures an inner distant voice, which echoes a tangible yet surreal dream in an oddly familiar place. As the sun fades into the horizon, time circles around the different songs tangled between the sound of waves crashing on the seashore, and the seagull’s choir, holding you in an hypnagogic state. A solar avant-pop odyssey about peace of mind, love, and understanding that won’t leave anyone indifferent.

His new single “In A Daze” follows the steps of a bewildered protagonist lost in the heart of a daunting city. A hypnotic and catchy nu-disco tune, that will keep your head swinging for a while. Is NOW available on all streaming platforms!
