ARO “Let Me Go” REVIEW

ARO is an American singer and songwriter living in Los Angeles. Growing up her family moved frequently, but she spent a significant amount of her childhood in Pennsylvania and attended art and design school in Philadelphia. As an artist, she is open about her mental health and inner process, using her music as a tool to alchemize some of the darker parts of herself. She uses lyricism as a method of personal growth: “I don’t always know what’s going to come out when I sit down to write a song, but each time I do, it reveals a deeper part of myself that I have the opportunity to integrate.”

Neurodivergence is a consistent theme that she explores in her art, giving a platform to the inner chaos that comes from living in a one-size-fits-all culture. ARO thrives in the liminal, refusing to live inside boxes or the expectations of others. She prides herself in intentionally creating a life where all parts of herself are free to show up, and hopes to inspire others to do the same.

ARO creates in several subgenres of alternative pop, fusing electro pop and R&B, with a touch of hip-hop and pop-rock. She crafts dark, wistful tracks that attract a cross-genre audience, and finds her niche in an edgy “fierce femme” aesthetic. Some of ARO’s greatest inspirations include her favorite artists: Halsey, Banks, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, and King Princess.

“Let Me Go”, is ARO debut single, tells the story of heartbreak from the perspective of a routine saboteur. The artist romanticizes her avoidant tendencies in relationships, likening herself to powerful forces of nature that seek to create chaos and destruction. For ARO, destruction and creation are two sides of the same coin. The artist worked with alternative pop producer, Caden Jester, to create the instrumental for this piece and recorded it from her DIY home studio.

“Let Me Go” is NOW AVAILABLE on all streaming platforms!
